Meal Plan Tips to Make Dinner Faster!

Set the fast-food menus aside, and instead plan a healthy, easy menu that your family will love! Let us help, by sharing a few helpful tips to get you started.

Start by Taking Inventory

Waste not, want not, right?

Open the pantry doors, freezer, and the fridge, and take inventory of key ingredients that you can build a meal around. By taking stock of veggies, grains and meat, you can start thinking of meals that can be created with what you have at home.

You will also be able to create a grocery list of specific items that are needed, allowing you to prevent food from going to waste while saving money.

Consult Your Family

Why not ask your family what they would like to eat this week?

By getting your kids and/or spouse involved in the planning of the menu, you will be able to take some of the guesswork out of it and know that you are creating something that everyone will love. In discussing the menu, you may also find ways to get your family involved in the meal prepping and cooking process as well.

Make it Easy

With autumn well on its way, the season of slow cooker meals has begun!

There are many healthy recipes that can be prepared within minutes before work, allowing dinner to cook and be ready in time for the end of the day! If you don’t own a slow cooker or are uncomfortable with leaving it on, one-pot meals made on the stove or the oven are a great alternative.

Prepare Ahead of Time

Even though we may not be able to organize measured ingredients into tiny bowls as the stars do on the Food Network, we can prepare ahead of time.

There are small moments throughout the day that can be used for meal prep, such as while your current meal is underway.

Have some time on the weekend? Why not take a few hours on Sunday night to dice vegetables, cube chicken, or make stock?

You will be glad you found those moments to prepare, later on in the week.

Be Inspired

Inspiration can appear at any time!

Whether it’s by a coworker trying out a new recipe, a featured meal on your favourite cooking show, or even seasonal fruits and vegetables; let yourself be inspired at mealtime.

Cooking should be fun, so enjoy the process and what you can create!

Still stuck? We feature many delicious recipes on our blog. Take a look and let us know which ones make the list!
